I created this atlas during my radiology rotation at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. I would like to thank Dr. Takhtani in the department of Neuroradiology for his generous assistance with the anatomical details. The concept of the atlas was to be as complete as possible. Even though MRI is much better for visualizing brain and soft tissue parenchyma, the head CT is one of the most common neuroimaging exams ordered. CT offers an excellent view of the bones and structures of the head and neck anatomy in addition to an acceptable view of the brain. The goal of this atlas was to identify as many structures as possible - including important structures in neuroanatomy, skull-base anatomy, and head and neck anatomy.
Please feel free to email me with any corrections that you may find.
Technical info: Noncontrast CT of the head, 5 mm continuous axial slices
About me:
I am currently a medical student at UMass. I have research interests in endovascular treatment of brain disease, and in using radiological technologies, such as anatomical and
functional MRI, to investigate musical perception.
I am also the creator of the tonedeaf test, which has received nearly one million visitors in the past few months.
Flash 7 or higher is necessary to see the atlas. It may take a few moments to load, please be patient.
